No Cat Will Ever Replace Monty

As Told By: Michelle Goff

About 17 years ago, I adopted a 6 week old tuxedo short hair kitten. My family and I named him Monty.

After he started to get a little older, he had no problem in telling us that he was a natural outdoor cat.

In fact, a neighbour cat used to wait by the door for him every day till he became full grown.

Monty was never the affectionate sort, for example, he didn't like to be picked up, snuggle up and sleep on your lap, etc.

He was an explorer who loved getting dirty and covered in bugs. He also loved to pick fights with the neighbour cats.

While not being very affectionate, he really cared us to point of being very protective.

Whenever we put the bins on to the curb once a week, he would follow us and meow to protect us from the outside, then would lead the way back to the house. He showed no fear at all.

Almost two years ago, we unfortunately lost him due to age and illness. To see him so weak and not himself just broke my heart.

He was more than just my silly, scrappy and protective cat. He was my best friend who I still miss dearly.

No matter how many other cats come into my life, they will never replace him. Monty was one of a kind.

I will always love you and never forget you, my sweet boy.
