Author Q+A: Susan Braxton of “I DO…25 Years Later: When A Military Adventure Leads To An Easter Elopement!”

What inspired you on this book?

My book actually evolved from a video that was created as a gift. I began to notice people (young/old/married/single) had the same reactions to the certain parts, laughing or amazement, etc., so I decided to turn the video into a book.

Why did you want to become a writer?

Storytelling … when I was very young I loved hearing stories about the past and people’s travel adventures. I would pretend I was reading a book I had written myself. Throughout the years I’ve had people ask me to repeat a story I may have shared because they liked the way I told it. (lol)

What was the hardest part of creating this book?

This was a fun book to create! I would have to say the hardest part was actually publishing it. I kept procrastinating from nervousness or fear even though I had produced sample test copies and had a lot of positive feedback.

What do you hope people gain from reading it?

I hope people become inspired to stay open to love! Relationships, especially marriage takes effort and work but at the same time you can have so much fun! One reader, after turning down a marriage proposal several times, decided to give love another chance and eloped! Others have said they’ve been inspired not to give up on getting married. –One husband was inspired to work on his marriage.

When you were a kid, what were your favorite books?

As a kid, mystery books like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys were definitely favorites. When I was a realtor, one of my real estate investors had the complete series (originals), I was so excited when I saw them on the shelf!

What is your advice to people who are not excited about reading?

This is what I like to say to people who aren’t excited about reading … think of it as time traveling! When you allow yourself to read without distractions, you leave your current environment and enter the world you are reading about in your mind. Wouldn’t you like to time travel? Just take a break, relax and get away every now and then.

Why should we buy your book?

There is a nugget inside waiting just for you that will at the appointed time inspire you just when you needed it!
