Author Q+A: M. Saez of “Pressure”

What inspired you on this book?

This is my first book ever, so what inspired me to do this book was.. time. It was just the right time. I always knew I wanted to become a writer and the only way to become a writer is to write. I also was in a bad spot in my life and I was done playing victim and used this book to empower myself.

Why did you want to become a writer?

I don’t like to be put in a box so I don’t want to consider myself just a writer. I am a creator. This book just happens to be my first creation. I love to create anything, using passion to express myself. I love words and I love imagination so I guess that is why I wanted to be a writer.

What was the hardest part of creating this book?

The hardest part about creating this book? I would say consistency. Disciplining myself every day to work on my novel. Although I love to write, doesn’t mean I am inspired all the time. So I kind of had to train myself to keep going! No one was there telling me, keep going! I had to be my own cheerleader and coach.

What do you hope people gain from reading it?

I wanted to write a book and I did but I don’t know if I am ready for the feedback. I am so nervous to hear what people think and I am really hoping they feel a sense of empowerment when they read my book. My two themes are forgiveness and faith so I hope they can look past the drugs, sex and money and see the purpose.

When you were a kid, what were your favorite books?

When I was a child I loved the bluford series. They give a urban vibe I can relate too. I also loved the chicken noodle soup stories.

What is your advice to people who are not excited about reading?

Advice to people who are not excited about reading? I would say build your imagination and try getting lost in the story. We can learn a lot even from fiction stories.

Why should we buy your book?

You should buy my book because this is just the beginning to much more! I intend on writing amazing books and you should start from the very beginning with me. Give me feedback and influence future stories. On another note you should help me share this story because I want the world to become aware of domestic abuse. My character Diamond is a product of domestic abuse. We all have struggles and my book will help you accept your own flaws and help you love yourself a little more with faith and forgiveness. Also check out my book teaser on youtube titled “Pressure book teaser.” Thank you!
