Welcome to the GLAM SOUL Experience, Starring Miranda Nicole

A guest post by Madam CJ

The release of her debut single “Kissing You” in 2011, on Global Soul Music, captured the ears and attention of House music lovers worldwide. Her professional music career writing and referencing started in 2001 at Red Zone Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, gaining opportunities to work with music industry heavyweights, Jazzy Pha and Chris Henderson. She is one of the most talented songwriters in the current music industry. She is one of the most genuine, sweetest human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and calling a friend and extended family member. I’d like to introduce you to the Glam Soul StarMiranda Nicole

What is new in your world as an artist?

I have so many new and exciting new things going on in my creative sphere!  Celebrating and promoting my latest release on Tribe Records UK entitled ‘Trust,’ and produced by Italian Production Duo, SoulDynamic.  It’s the 1st record that I have gone a bit outside my normal “lovey-dovey” song lyrics to deal with a real issue that men and women struggle with in romantic relationships – trust – it felt good to say what I needed to say.  Unfortunately, the song didn’t release until after the demise of the relationship…”boo-hoo.”  Luckily though, I have more fabulousness that is keeping me preoccupied, like the release of my 1st official “Glamsoul” record called “Dance Like You’ve Been Here,”  out in September on Kai Alce’s NDATL Music.

How many songs have you written? For yourself? For other artists?

I have right now in my active catalog of music for myself, about 50 songs – 50 well written songs.  As for my songwriting catalog, I have about 30 or so.  I have yet to place any big industry records, however, I did some writing for Boddhi Satva on his forthcoming album for Peggy Tabu. I am featured on that album as well.

How do you approach the song writing process?

I approach the art of songwriting as an empty vessel.  A lot of times we have something that we feel we just need to say, then you start writing, well God starts writing, and all of a sudden it hits you, wham!  Inspiration, a crazy line, or an unforgettable melody, that’s when you know you’ve got something.  I just try to stay out of my own way when it comes to writing.

Do you consider yourself an artist or a artist with keen business sense?

As much as I would love to just be an ARTIST, the truth is, I am too anal for that, lol.  I am totally involved in the business side of everything.  The numbers, the release dates, the cover art, keeping a tight schedule, void of *bs, staying productive, and creating.  It’s the best way. My preference is to learn the business, then WERK the business.

YAAAAAAS! WERK INDEED! I appreciate artists like you. You make the job easier! What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care to me means caring for all parts of your being.  Primarily your spirit and then your physical body.  For me it means, green leafy veggies, plenty of water, paraben free soaps, NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP PLEASE!  And plenty of rest!  I find so many artist run themselves ragged chasing after things that we should understand are our birthrights, so why all the fuss?

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I see myself with at least 1 overseas tour under my belt and traveling extensively across the pond as well.  The end game is mainly to be a working Artist, that is promoting a way of life closer to the Spirit and freeing minds through my music, GLAMSOUL.  Simple.

What is your favorite song by YOU?

My favorite song is actually a song that only a few people have heard, it’s called “Living Proof.” Initially inspired by the life of a love interest, the song expanded into an ode to the great I AM – the God energy that lives within all of us, the energy that gives and restores.  Aren’t we all but living proof of this kind of love?
